Begin by selecting a microwave-safe bowl. Add the semi-sweet chocolate chips, the entire can of sweetened condensed milk, and the unsalted butter to the bowl.
Place the bowl in the microwave and heat on high for 30 seconds.
Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave, and with a spatula, stir the mixture thoroughly until the chocolate is fully melted and the texture is creamy and smooth. If the chocolate still has lumps, return it to the microwave for an additional 15 seconds and mix again until perfectly smooth.
Once the chocolate mixture is velvety, stir in the pure vanilla extract and a pinch of fine sea salt to enhance the flavor. If you wish to add a personal touch, fold in the optional chopped nuts and mini marshmallows to create a delightful texture.
Pour the luscious fudge mixture into an 8x8-inch square pan lined with parchment paper, ensuring it spreads evenly across the pan.
Allow the fudge to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. After that, transfer it to the refrigerator for an additional 30 minutes to allow it to set completely, resulting in a perfect fudge consistency.
