Instructions
Prepare the Steak: If your ribeye steak is not already partially frozen, place it in the freezer for about 30 minutes. This will firm it up, making slicing easier. Once chilled, use a sharp knife to cut the steak against the grain into very thin strips for optimal tenderness.
Sauté Vegetables: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and bell peppers, along with any sliced mushrooms if you're including them. Sauté the mixture for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tender and slightly caramelized. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Once they're perfectly cooked, remove them from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Steak: Using the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high. Add the thinly sliced steak and sauté for about 3-5 minutes until browned, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper to enhance the flavor.
Combine Elements: Return the sautéed onion and bell pepper mixture back to the skillet with the cooked steak. Mix everything thoroughly to ensure it's well integrated and heated through.
Add Cheese: Reduce the heat to low. Place the slices of provolone cheese evenly over the steak and vegetable mixture, covering it completely. Allow the cheese to melt for about 2-3 minutes.
Prepare the Rolls: While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise, being careful not to cut all the way through so they remain hinged. If desired, lightly toast the rolls in a separate pan or under a broiler to achieve a crispy texture on the outside.
Assemble the Sandwiches: Once the cheese is melted to your liking, generously scoop the delicious steak and cheese mixture into each hoagie roll. Ensure you get a good portion of both steak and veggies in every sandwich.
Serve and Enjoy: Serve the sandwiches hot for the best melt-in-your-mouth experience. Enjoy your Melty Philly Cheesesteak Delight!
Notes
For an extra touch, serve the sandwiches on a wooden board with pickled hot peppers and a side of crispy potato chips for a delightful contrast in textures.
