Instructions
Prepare the Noodles: Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the lo mein noodles and cook according to the package instructions until they are al dente, typically around 4-6 minutes. Once done, drain the noodles in a colander and rinse briefly under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside.
Marinate the Beef: In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the thinly sliced beef flank steak with soy sauce, oyster sauce, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Mix well, ensuring the beef is thoroughly coated, and let it marinate for about 10 minutes while you prepare the vegetables.
Cook the Beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. When the oil is shimmering, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the beef is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and transfer it to a plate, leaving any remaining juices in the skillet.
Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, reduce the heat slightly and add the sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to let the garlic burn.
Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Add the sliced bell pepper, broccoli florets, and julienned carrot to the skillet. Stir-fry the vegetables for about 3-4 minutes, or until they are tender-crisp, retaining some crunch for texture.
Combine Ingredients: Return the cooked beef to the skillet along with the prepared lo mein noodles. Gently toss everything together to combine the ingredients evenly.
Season and Heat Through: If desired, drizzle a bit more soy sauce over the stir-fry for added flavor and toss again to coat all ingredients well. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, stirring continuously to ensure even heating.
Finish with Green Onions: Add the sliced green onions to the skillet and give everything a final toss before removing from heat.
Serve: Plate the savory beef lo mein while hot. For an appealing presentation, sprinkle sesame seeds over the top as a garnish.
